Jealousy : Root of Resentment !!

Am i jealous of others success?
Am i not able to enjoy when i see others happy?
Am i unhappy because i come from a unhappy background?
Am i not satisfied with what i have?

What are the replies we get when we ask these questions to our self??

There are all kinds of strands of life, one should know how to live life wisely.
Wise living involves both controllable and uncontrollable variables of life.
If we feel that we have a miserable life, struggling for everything and we have come from an unhappy background, then we have no choice than either being a victim of it forever or trying to cope from such situations.

A feeling of envy arises when either one has not learnt to be happy in others success, or when there is an unwise comparison.

Here is a short story which describes man's being is unhappy, he is never satisfied.

A man prays to GOD.. " Oh God! , please fulfill my desires, i will be grateful to you"
God replies.."If i do, then you will be more unhappy, your being is unsatisfied. Try to change your state of being, not in fulfilling your desires"
But man still insists then God says "I will fulfill your desires on one condition, what you get, others will get double of it."

Man agrees. He prays to have a house and he gets one. But he finds his neighbours have got two than he feels jealous. He feels that it was his effort of pleasing God and others are being rewarded.

Then in jealousy he prays God to take away one of his eyes and he finds that others have lost both eyes, and he feels happy for it. But the very next day he finds others have taken away their lives and he is left alone so his feeling of happiness was short lived, and he is again unhappy.

In lust of having everthing one can never be satisfied.

When we try to search God and someone tells us.. " He resides here" than a feeling of enjoyment and satisfaction is derived. The same way we should try to enjoy our search, our journey of life.

  1. very well said.
Happiness is purely a state of mind which way it balances is onto the person. There are many reasons to be jealous off in this world not to mention very few like others property, position, progress etc etc... but at the same time if we think, with a sense of contentment, and satisfaction there exist atleast twice as many good reasons to be happy about then to cry upon or feel dis comforted. And one of the biggest truth being that both the states of mind (ie either feel jealous of others or enjoy their success with yours) are like opposite sides of the same coin. The decision to choose whichever we want lies if not completely then to the max on ourselves and hence the magic wand of enjoyment, satisfaction, and gratification.
